DECODING THE CROWDSTRIKE OUTAGE
Comments
In the aftermath of the largest global cyber incident in history, the corporate media is strangely silent on the details that matter. How could this impossible event happen? Was this a test run? Why is the public being aggressively prepped for a cyber attack? “The HighWire” investigates.

Actually BSOD is quite common among us techies. And we’ve been calling it Blue screen of death for years. So that term is not new. it’s just new in the mainstream media because of this snafu. Very interesting that it happened to Windows computers. Which means Bill Gates, which means Gavi and Bill and Melinda Gaes Foundation. Ya Thknk?
No one is going to tell me that contengencies are in in place and if not, why not? We’re to believe that this is not the case. Yeah, right. I’ve been an IT expert for over 40 years and I’m not buying it. This was a purpose distraction, period. Just another false flag to distract from the illegal act of switching out Biden for Kamala without her actually having to primary. If the American people allow for this then we get what we deserve. When LBJ didn’t run again, Humprey had to primary, and Harris has to primary as well. This is not a dictatorship and the DNC and Biden do not get to install Kamala. We demand a primary from the DNC. There is no excuse not to have one big one, if nothing else and it must include ALL others who are running, including RFK and we need them on the stage, to put the airhead’s feet to the fire. She needs to be tried on Biden’s efforts, or lack thereof for the last 4 years. Why should anyone allow her to take over after this mess they’ve caused thus far.
By the way Del, you are absolutely correct, This does not just happen. Again, I am an IT expert and I work with Windows systems and I’ve been around since before there was ever a Windows operating system. Notice that it only affected Microsoft Windows systems. Isn’t THAT interesting? Makes me wonder why would you allow kernal level updates to critical systems around the world, without a contengency plan to rollback if not successful? I’m not buying it and again, this is from an expert in the field. It didn’t affect any Mac OS systems, and it didn’t affect any linux systems.. Gofigure….
Again Del, you’re correct and you do not need to be a computer expert to know that someone DID die because of this, and there is no story more important than what just happened yet they’re brushing it off as if: NORTHING TO SEE HERE.
I’ve worked as a software developer. I listened to expert analysis on what caused this, and while I was sympathetic to the idea that it was a deliberate attack, I came to side with the idea that it was a screw-up of epic proportions, based on the tell-tale signs of what happened. It doesn’t look like the flaw in the software was deliberately targeted. The only scenario where I could see it being deliberate is if an outside nefarious actor exploited a vulnerability, which is possible.
What’s disturbing to me is it looks like incompetence, like the quality of CrowdStrike’s workforce has degraded. The reason I say this is the problem was caused by an amateurish oversight inside CS’s software that’s probably been in there a while, undetected, combined w/ a malformed update file that wasn’t tested before it was released (which the software just blithely accepted, when it shouldn’t have). It’s the kind of mistakes in implementation I’d expect from inexperienced, entry-level developers, not top-notch, experienced ones. The idea that this software (and update) was checked rigorously through multiple levels of testing doesn’t pass the smell test. It’s really an embarrassment, when you look at it.
I’ve also been reading that the problems w/ CS were not just on Windows. Linux systems using CS have been having problems similar to this since April. It just hasn’t made headlines.
After seeing the outage, Elon Musk said he’s removing CS from all his systems, and I think that’s a defensible response. CS has lost customer trust for good reason.
It may not be surprising to find that due to their prioritizing of wokeness that they’ve dumbed themselves down in technical skill, as well.
