I live in Tarpon Springs Florida. The hurricane hit us on Thursday, FEMA didn’t declare us a disaster until Sunday around 4pm. People were calling FEMA for assistance before that and being told TS Debby was the last known disaster in our area! I also learned about the insurance fraud not from the consumer, but from the adjusters with insurance companies changing numbers to reduce claims by 50-99% in prior storms (60 minute episodes on youtube). When the investigations occurred, the one common element was they were flood policies backed by FEMA! I am getting the word out in my community so we can hopefully prevent this from claims from Helene. I am not surprised were are uncovering corruption at yet another government agency.
