The White Coat Waste Project (WCWP) revealed that $10 million has been spent on taxpayer-funded studies that use mice and monkeys for transgender experiments, including surgeries and hormone treatments. Senator Rand Paul released his annual Festivus report of wasteful government spending days before Christmas and included $33.2 million in transgender monkey research.

The HighWire reported about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new independent department that President-elect Trump is utilizing to cut wasteful spending in the federal government. Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk are leading that department. Senator Paul and others have been providing many examples of excessive federal spending for DOGE to tackle on day one.

Fox News reported one specific transgender study, and it states, “The lab worked to make male lab monkeys ‘transgender’ to address ‘social injustices’ suffered by ‘transgender persons’ such as ‘transgender women (TGW)-individuals who were assigned a male sex at birth but express their gender along a female spectrum.”

This revelation comes after several challenges to the notion that gender-affirming care (GAC) is the best treatment for children who are experiencing gender dysphoria. The HighWire reported last month about the Supreme Court challenge to Tennessee’s ban on GAC for children. The U.K. recently announced that they are no longer providing GAC to children unless the kids are already “grandfathered” into receiving the treatment.

The change to stop providing GAC to minors has come after the release of the Cass Report and several studies that question the effectiveness and safety of this kind of treatment for children. While other European countries allow GAC treatment for minors, they have added more restrictions in the aftermath of the Cass Report release.

There has also been increased scrutiny of the NIH and government-funded studies that harm animals during experiments. The WCWP has been uncovering the truth about animal studies since they first revealed that the NIH was funding bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The WCWP also revealed “beagle-gate”, a study funded by Fauci’s NIAID (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) that allowed sand flies to eat the faces of beagle dogs. Before the dogs were subjected to this painful experience, their vocal cords were cut so the scientists wouldn’t have to hear the dogs crying.

These transgender animal experiments were paid for, in part, by federal taxpayer Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) grants. Senator Joni Ernst said, “The NIH has taken the cheese and fell victim to the DEI trap. While I’ve spent years fighting for more research and expanding treatment options for those with metastatic breast cancer, the leading ‘health’ agency in Washington has been mousing around and spending millions on rodent sex changes. These silly science projects will be DOA in the DOGE era.”

Another revealed study involved cutting the backs of male cats to expose their spinal cords. These cats were exposed to electrical shocks for up to 10 minutes at a time in an attempt to get the cat to have an erection. The cats reportedly had their spinal cords severed, causing lower body paralysis, and the shocks continued for up to 10 more minutes.

Justin Goodman, Senior Vice President of the WCWP, Senator Rand Paul, and others have called for a radical transformation within the NIH, the agency that approves the majority of taxpayer-funded scientific research. Jay Bhattacharya is tapped to become the next director of the NIH under the umbrella of HHS, which is set to be led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Goodman said, On day one, DOGE should ditch billions in wasteful spending on federal fiascos like Fauci’s cat tests, transgender lab animals, and China’s beagle abuse. A growing majority of taxpayers—Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike—oppose Uncle Sam’s wasteful, dangerous, and cruel animal experiments at home and abroad and don’t want to be forced to pay billions for these boondoggles. We’re honored to work with Senators Rand Paul, Joni Ernst, and others to get the feds out of the animal testing business. The solution is simple: Stop the money. Stop the madness!”

The Washington Times reported that Trump’s next administration could improve animal welfare. The article states,  “Cabinet nominees Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Marty Makary and Mr. Trump’s sons Donald Jr. and Eric are among the many MAGA supporters of the WCW’s work. Animals could end up being unlikely winners in Trump 2.0 and animal welfare given the level of priority and seriousness it needs and deserves.”

In addition to the transgender experimentation on primates and rodents, WCWP and Senator Ernst found that more than $50 million was spent to get monkeys “high on drugs,” $3.5 million was spent to make “baby monkeys cross-eyed” and $5 million was spent “simulating monkey marriage proposals.”

Senator Paul’s Festivus report included wasteful spending in all federal government sectors, but also discussed more costly studies with predictable outcomes. The federal government spent $419,470 to inject rats with cocaine. The study intended to determine if lonely rats sought out drugs more frequently than happy rats.

$20 million was given to foreign countries to help them resolve issues with fertilizer and to help boost farming income in other countries. This is occurring as small farmers in the United States are struggling to make ends meet. The HighWire reported about the Farm Bureau Credit scandal in June, which is a program intended to help small farmers but is having the reverse effect. According to farmer and lawyer Dustin Kittle, the program extorted him by threatening foreclosure when he never missed a payment.

Senator Paul’s report details $1 trillion in wasteful spending as the national debt has now exceeded $36 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the country will continue to add $6.4 billion in debt every single day over the next decade. That equates to $4.5 million every minute.
