Reporting from the Associated Press (AP) regarding the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate blitzkrieg made a shocking admission on Friday. Despite Covid vaccines still under Emergency Use Authorization as an experimental product, the White House is stretching the limits of the law and long-established medical ethics to enact coercive vaccine mandates.

The AP writes, “…more severe measures — such as mandating vaccines for interstate travel or changing how the federal government reimburses treatment for those who are unvaccinated and become ill with COVID-19 — have been discussed, the administration worried that they would be too polarizing for the moment.”

White House COVID-19 coordinator Jeff Zients said the White House still has no plans to develop the infrastructure for so-called vaccine passports despite the Biden administration’s promise to share frameworks for verification systems. Systems and policing that have been ultimately left to the private sector and local governments, in part because of “political sensitivities” writes the AP.

While mandating vaccines for travel may be ‘too polarizing for the moment’ in the U.S., Canada doesn’t seem to be bound by the same challenges. Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra stated Friday that soon, all commercial air travelers and passengers on interprovincial trains and large marine vessels with overnight accommodations (such as cruise ships) will have to be vaccinated. He said accommodations will be made for “those few who are unable to be vaccinated,” such as testing and screening.

Asked when these measures for travelers would take effect, Alghabra said the government is developing “a measured and practical approach to requiring vaccines in these sectors as quickly as possible.”
