Math and science are different. Science uses math, but it’s not a math discipline. There’s a quote attributed to Einstein that, “As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.” Real science includes error, uncertainty. Math includes no uncertainty. Math is about truth. That is why your mathematical guest said it’s not debatable. However, science *is* debatable, up to a point. Evidence must be included in the discussion, and where the evidence is consistent, and there’s no evidence of sloppy observation, analysis, or tampering, it’s not debatable, but how the evidence is analyzed is debatable, because maybe one method leaves out something important, or is not as accurate as other methods. How it’s gathered is debatable, because maybe the method is incomplete, excluding other material that may change conclusions.
