My mom wanted me to go on SSRIs at a very young age. My parents divorced and I developed OCD. My dad wouldn’t let her put me on the medications. Fast forward 30 years later and she lived on these meds for decades. She went off them in her late 60s cold turkey. She didn’t sleep for years. She generally would not get one minute of sleep every other night for 5-7 years. She now has lewy body dementia/parkinson’s and although she had other environmental exposures like herbicides and many solvents I think this for sure played a role. I am so thankful I never took this poison. As I grew up and went from an all processed food diet my parents fed me to a whole organic food diet and very low dose lithium orotate my OCD has pretty much disappeared.
