Dane must not know that he is not going to live well after this surgery. We were designed to live with two kidneys, if you were born with one or you give away a kidney when a youngster, okay, your kidney will double in size. But not at Dane’s age. This happened to my husband, he had one taken out and the other healthy kidney failed 8 months later. The doctor did not tell him that the odds were very bad – he was given the option of dialysis but chose not to and died. A nurse told me that even when you give away a kidney at 20 years old you are giving away 10 years of your life, for sure.
