Episode 330: COLLATERAL DAMAGE

  1. Ozempic is on a class of drugs widely recognized to stress centers of the brain which trigger episodes of self harm, aka suicidal ideation. Now, IF the class of drugs and it’s effects were unknown, and Ozempic alone was triggering ideation, it would make sense to exclude the class. Depressives are already struggling with ideational issues and would therefore throw the results. HOWEVER, IF the entire class was well understood I’m it’s activity and mechanisms to produce such effects, then excluding this class is designed to be cherry picking test subjects. Since they clearly DID know the entire class has these effects, they cherry picked the data. Exclusion of a group, by itself, isn’t wrong ng necessarily. It’s all about the backstory of a drug. It’s all about Context.

  2. I’m surprised about the objection to excluding those with psychiatric history from the trial for Ozempic. That actually makes some sense because it could throw off trial results due to mental conditions.

What surprises me is that even with that, there were no signals of suicidal ideation being a potential adverse reaction? Many with mental disorders avoid getting treatment and suicidal ideation as an adverse reaction has appeared in other drugs even in people with no history of it. Definitely been there with friends who started on drugs for a mental condition and suddenly became suicidal even though they were not previously and had no history of depression and were being treated for something else.

If anything excluding all those with a history of mental disorder means if anyone has suicidal ideation all of a sudden that it can’t be attributed to their history and would have been stacking the deck even more if they hadn’t excluded. We know very well that if they hadn’t excluded those people that the company would have attributed the adverse reaction to those people’s history and not their drug, which feels far more like stacking the deck (and honestly unethical if they had any clue about the potential). So it’s more concerning that they did exclude those who have a history and somehow absolutely no one had that reaction? Somehow I doubt that.

  3. Sure Covid-19 escaped from the Wuhan Lab in China. Why did the lab do gain of function research of Covid? We all know the Eco Health Alliance and Fort Detrick connection. Why don’t you guys mention it. Keep demonizing China Del and esp. Jefferey Jaxen. We all know how much you hate China. It sickens me when relentless demonizing of China results in physical violence and hatred of Asians on the streets of the US and other western nation. Well done Jefferey and Del. Keep hating China.
